Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero has been model and actress in America over a long period of time. Her most famous work is the main character in the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead vocalist in the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was christened as a female singer and actress by Prince. Through the 1980s, she became one among several other performers who gained from Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. The latter part of the 70s was when she appeared on CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first part in 1984. Prince changed the girl's name at this point. She replaced Vanity with the female duo Vanity 6 to perform in the film as Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was only a small success for the trio, however she made a greater impact as Prince's duet partner with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince after the two fell apart over the direction of Apollonia 6. She went on to appear in several minor films during the time (reportedly not wanting to be as a character in her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to launch her debut album in 1988. Unfortunately, it did not leave an lasting impression on music lovers and she soon faded off the spotlight. Apollonia remained in the spotlight (if slightly underneath the radar) as an actress in the ensuing decade with small film roles on television and even issued videos for exercises. Apollonia created a bilingual Spanish and English album called Stay with Me. The singer returned to the university where she received her diploma in making films. After that, she started her own business and was employed on children's television. Apollonia Kotero is a household name for wearing many hats. She is a former model, singer-actress and talent supervisor. As an actress she is renowned for her role in the movie Purple Rain.
